In re: Estate of Bouck
The firm was retained by the estate of the deceased wife, who had apparently been murdered by her estranged husband. The husband claimed entitlement to the estate’s assets. Because there was very little circumstantial evidence linking the husband to the murder, the district attorney had not prosecuted. At the trial, however, the firm was able to introduce witnesses and evidence it had uncovered through the civil discovery process, including deposition testimony by the husband, which established that he was likely the slayer, thus defeating his claim to the estate. Following the trial, and based in part on the evidence and witness testimony developed by the firm, the district attorney prosecuted the husband and obtained a conviction. He’s presently serving a life sentence without possibility of parole.
